THE FIRST FIRE BRIGADE
It is very popular proverb that Neeru was playing flute when Rome was burning. The first fire brigade department was set in Rome (Italy). He was Marcus Licnius who created it. Initially 500 strong workers were appointed. Augustus, founder of Roman Empire promoted this idea and made the watchmen of the city who were responsible to act as police men as well as fire fighters. London experienced the great fire so many times from 789 to 1666 by those incidents there was no proper fire brigade system in England. In 17th century first fire protection set up was started. Now fire and rescue are inter connected departments. Most of the cities of the world are served by trained fire fighting teams.
