THE CHINA PAKISTAN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR (CPEC)
In 2015 an agreement was signed between Pakistan and China. China is the world’s biggest exporter, having its market all over the world. As per this agreement China will use Pakistan as a corridor from Gwader and Kashghar. If we see the map then some amazing facts are to be noticed that Kashgar is a city of China located at west coast, while Shanghai is at eastern coast. The distance between Gwader and Kashgar is 1860 miles which is nearer than Shanghai port. China has already completed the deepening of Suez Canal. Import and export of China will be promoted through Suez Canal for Europe. In return for providing China transits trade from Gwader port, Pakistan will get following facilities
- Railway link from Karachi to Peshawar to be improved.
- International airport at Gwadar.
- Oil and gas pipeline.
- World’s largest solar park in Cholistan desert near Bahawalpur.
