Turkish religious authority Diyanet announced the Christian icon would be curtained off and unlit through appropriate means during prayer timings. Soon the Muslim prayers are due to be held at Istanbul since it was reconverted to a Mosque. Turkey’s top court opened the way for the conversion in a decision to revoke the edifice`s museum status conferred a century ago. Above building was constructed in the 6th century. In 1935 it got the status of Museum. Before that during the Byzintine Empire it was a cathedral church. During Ottoman Empire site was converted into mosque in 1453. Mustafa Kamal Ataturk, founder of modern Turkey then changed it into a Museum. Turkish president Tayyab Erdogan declared it a mistake to convert Hagia Sophia into Museum.
